Note:   Source: Book by Wiliam C./Hartz/Jr. Christian was from a Mennonite family which emigrated from Switzerland to Friedelsheim, Palatinate,Germany, in the early 1670's, due to religious persecution. Christian arrived in this country 24 August 1717 from Friedelstein, along with sons Benjamin and Andrew and daughter Anna. A third son, Christian, deacon of Friedelsheim, arrived 13 September 1739, aboard the "Robert and Alice". They settled in that part of Chester County, Pennsylvania that in 1729 became Lancaster County. Christian was elected Bishop in that faith, as was his son Benjamin. A number of the sons' heirs were also preachers. The family made quite a contribution to Mennonite and United Brethren history.
