Note: Maybe have been named Rosetta Cotton. Following the death of Rosa's grandfather, John Carson, the couple inherited approx. $106.86. Interestingly, the note for the final disbursement of the estate has a note stating the date for the receipt of payment for Joseph and Rosa as Aug 3, 1901. This is the only entry in John Carson's probate records to make such a notation, and this may be because Joseph and Rosa have moved away and it took longer to send payment to them and receive a receipt in return. This may coincide with the couple's move to Kentucky, as Coy Branum would be born in KY the following year. On Rosa's death certificate there are a few discrepancies. 1) Her age is listed as 37. If she is indeed 26 on the 1910 census, she would only be 32 in 1916. Joseph Branum may actually be 37.; 2) Her birthplace is listed as Scott Co, Ky when it should actually be Scott Co, Tn; 3) family tradition said Rosa died in childbirth, but the certificate says she died of asthma. The information about Rosa was provided by one Melvina Rusell.
