Mary Ann Carson married Tasmon Burke "Birk" Cotton 9-24-1867. Tasmon Cotton was born in 1847 and died in 1900. Tasmon Cotton was the son of Wayne (White) Cotton and Mary "Polly" J. Owens (1821-1885). Wayne (White) Cotton was the son of Aaron (White) Cotton and Nancy Hatfield. Wayne (White) Cotton was a captain of Company "G" of the 7th Infantry Regiment. Polly J. Owens was the daughter of Solomon Owens. According to census records, Mary Ann could not read or write.
