NEIL HENRY CHANCE NEIL HENRY CHANCE Neil Henry Chance of Apple Valley passed away in his sleep on May 19, 2012 at the age of 87. Neil was born in 1924 in Lowell, Arkansas and grew up in Little Rock. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served in the Armed Guard, which put Navy men onboard merchant ships to man the guns and relay signals. He served on the battleship Missouri during Korea, where he made Chief Signalman and took part in the Inchon invasion with General MacArthur. Neil retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1967 and retired again from Honeywell in 1984 to live in the high desert cities of Yucca Valley and Apple Valley. Neil loved camping and traveled extensively including RV trips through Mexico and Alaska. He joined the San Bernardino Sheriff's Citizens on Patrol and served until 2011. Neil is preceded in death by his brother Joseph, his wives Marie and Claire, and his daughter Terri. He is survived by his children Robert, Lee Ann, and Mark. He will be buried in the Little Rock National Cemetery. Published in the Daily Press on June 3, 2012
