  Great Bend Daily Tribune (Great Bend, Kansas) 1961 January 17 Hospital news- Great Bend- St Rose- Admissions Jan 16; James A Deason, Two GB Youths Hurt in Auto Crash Two Senior High students, Jimmy Deason and Sam Witte, both 17, were injured Monday evening..... Witte received a fractured right leg and chest injuries....... With him was Jimmy Deason, 17, son of Mr and Mrs James N Deason, 1723 12th, who suffered severe head injuries and is reported to be in critical condition. He was knocked unconcious in the crash. Great Bend Daily Tribune 18 Jan 1961 Injured Youth Still in Critical Condition Jimmy Deason, 17-year-old son of Mr and Mrs James N Deason, 1723 12th, is still in critical condition at St Rose Hospital where he has been a patient since he was injured Monday evening in an auto crash. Deason's physician said the youth has not regained consciousness. Deason and a friend, Sam Witte, also 17, were traveling northward out of Pawnee Rock in Witte's car which failed to negotiate a turn from a dirt road onto an east-west blacktop north of Pawnee Rock. The auto went into a ditch and rammed into the embankment. Witte, son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Witte, Rt 4, Great Bend, received a broken right leg and chest injuries. His doctor said Wednesday that his condition is improved. After the accident Witte crawled southward toward Pawnee Rock to summon aid. He was found by two passing motorists who notified authorities. Both Deason and Witte are Great Bend High school seniors.

  Great Bend Tribune (Great Bend, Kansas) 1974 May 3 Nearly lost load of wax ...shortly after 2pm James A Deason, 3100 Main, suffered a sudden illness while driving as pickup owned by Garvey Elevators. The truck made an s-turn, headed north and slammed into the side of a northbound semi-trailer truck.....Deason was taken to Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment of his illness. He reportedly escaped the accident uninjured.....

  James A. "Jim" Deason 58 Aug/25/1943 Apr/11/2002 Vincent Deason Great Bend, KS, US James A. "Jim" Deason, 58 of Great Bend, died April 11 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Aug 25, 1943 at Kansas City, MO the son of James Nelson and Clara Lucille Myers Deason. He married Marilyn Brack on Sept 5, 1965 at Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a custodian for USD 423 in Great Bend. Deason was a member of First Christian Church of Great Bend and Scout leader and master for Kanza Council. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons Nelson Deason of Claflin and Vincent Deason of Great Bend; two daughters, Jame Allen and Sheree Marshall, both of Great Bend; one sister, Martha Scranton of Larned; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday, all at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to James Arthur Deason Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. Great Bend (Kan.) Tribune, April 14, 2002
