Profession: Washington was a farmer, postmaster, merchant, magistrate and for a time taught school. Source: Glenn Mosley
  Nickname: Wash
source: OF BOLDER MEN, by Mary Brewer Pioneer families of Leslie County had a remedy for rabies. It was called a mad stone. It grew like a gallstone to the liver of a deer and was very rare. It was said to have come from a white deer. Before anyone in Leslie County had a stone, Wash Mosley's son was bitten by a rabid cat. Almost every morning Wash would take his favorite dog on a hunting trip. One morning he noticed his dog unusually disinterested in the hunt. It became increasingly worse and in the next few days died. A few mornings later the cat ran from under the bed an bit Grant, one of the children. Wash now knew that rabies was loose in his household and great concern grew for the child. A mad stone must be found! Upon inquire he learned that there was a stone in Clay County at Goose Creek.
