  Eliza told her granddaughters, Liza and Hazel, that she was very frightened during the nights when they traveled to Arkansas. Bears would come into their camp and lick the grease from their skillets. Eliza's sons would come to the house and steal her freshly baked pies. Eliza would kick them in the rear, and she broke several toes.
  Eliza would go out barefooted and break ice on the branch near her home in the winter. She told her children that it would keep her from having colds. souce: Copy of diary given to Walter Sizemore, Oklahoma by granddaughter of Liza.
