Her father was working as a sharecropper farmer during that time. Later they moved back to Arkansas at Centerpoint, Drew County, Arkansas where her dad farmed and was a rural mail carrier. She was a medium built lady with dark brown hair and was 5' 8" tall. Her wieght varied as most women' did after having children, weighing from 160 to 200 pounds. She birthed 8 children of which two were still born babies. They lost their oldest son, Jerry, on December 30, 1955 in a hunting accident. Shortly after his death, she found out she was expecting another child. This child was another son, who gave hope to the family to carry on after losing Jerry. Estelle married at the age of 19 to Robin Mansfield. His job took them to many places. Sometimes she and the children were able to follow him around on his jobs, but there would be times that she had to remain in Arkansas to send the children to school. She always managed to be an independent person taking care of all the responsibilities when he was away. She was a very pleasant kind hearted, loving person, putting her family and their needs before herself. Most of her life she spent as a homemaker, although she did work a couple of odd jobs for a few months at a time. She sewed for her daughters and even made a suit for her son. She had a lot of creative talents, such as crocheting, upholstering, and being a good cook. Estelle & Robin helped to care for some of their grandchildren and adopted a grandson, Timothy, when he was 9 years old. Actually, she spent her entire adult life raising children. Tim graduated from high school the week after she died. The last three years of Estelle's life was spent in a wheel chair. She had Guillane Barre Syndrone which brought on paraylsis. She spent a year in a rehab hospital, trying to strengthen her muscles and learning to walk with a walker. Shortly afterward she was diagnosed with lung cancer and had three tumors on her brain. She spent about 8 months in a nursing home in Hamburg, Arkansas before her death.
