a. Note:   I have gone through the purchases and sales and I will try to summarize them. FIRST LAND PARCEL: Purchase 15 June 1844 W1/2 SE1/4 15 W1/2 NE1/4 15 bo th of the 87 N12 5th PM This land is in Blackhawk Co. IA At the same time, Ju ly 31,1844 Lewis KREBS SR. purchased land in WI, along with his brother Micha el W1/2 SW 25 9N 19E W4th PM (Lewis) And in the 1850 and 1860 censuses L ouis and Barbara live in WI. Would be interesting to know why they bought l and in IA when they stayed in WI. Was this when they first came from NY? SECOND LAND PARCEL: The next record is for 1864 The sale of land to John Zar row. SW1/4 SE1/4 22 NE1/4 NW1/4 27 SE1/4 SW1/4 22 all of 87 N12 W5th PM Th ere isn't a record of when this land was bought. This was sold shortly befo re Louis died. THIRD LAND PARCEL: Then 7 Aug 1869 Barbara bought for $3500 from Henry Anshutz. Lots 9 and 10 in section no. 16 N4 acres of E6 and W5 ac res of E11 of N1/2 of SE1/4 SW1/4 13 This land was foreclosed on, on the 4th Aug 1871. For an amount of $3700.73. The sale of the land to Henry Austs hitz at public auction for $2700. Note that this is the same fellow Barbara bought the land from. Notice the difference in price paid too. BACK TO THE FIRST LAND PARCEL: On 20 Oct 1869, backing up to before the foreclosure, Barb ara sold the land purchased in 1844 by herself and Louis to her children: Wil liam KREBS George KREBS Caroline KREBS Sarah A. KREBS Mary Ann BELZER for $1500 ( Louis and Barbara paid $2400 for this land 25 years earlier.) Also th e N10 acres of E30 Acres of S50 acres of W1/2 SE1/4 10 and {SW corner of E1/2 SE1/4 15 thence running E6 Rods 16 links, N 200 rods, W 6 rods 16 links, the nce S 200 rods to place of beginning containing 8 Acres, There isn't a record of when she bought this land.} SAME PARCEL (1st): Then 1st of March 1871 The children sold this land to Percival Hummel. Barbara sold the land on behal f of George KREBS and Sarah KREBS as they were still minors and she was their guardian. This is recorded as two separate sales. The first, Barbara as guardian, the second the other children: William KREBS, Catherine KREBS his w ife, Caroline NACE, Lewis NACE her husband, Mary Ann BELZER, and Louis BELZER her husband. Note that Caroline married between 20 OCT 1869 and 1 MAR 1871 . The land was sold for a total of $5000. Note the difference in price be tween what Louis and Barbara paid: $2400, the children paid: $1500, and Perci val paid: $5000. FOURTH LAND PARCEL: 20th July 1880 Sale of Land in Attica , Wyoming Co., NY. by Michael KREBS and Jacobene KREBS his wife, Martin KRE BS and Amelia KREBS his wife, and Margaret KOLB and Lana KREBS of Nepeuskun, Winnebago Co. WI, and Barbara KREBS of Blackhawk Co., IA. Interesting that this happened 35 years after they moved to WI and IA. SE part of Lot # 30, 39 chains and 8 links, W parallel to the E bounds of lot 31. 10 chains and 5 0 links N parallel to S bounds of lot 30 9 chains and 8 links containing 40 acres of land more or less. ( I don't know if I wrote this out right becaus e I don't understand the format.) The witnesses were Sarah A. FROST and Eli zabeth KREBS.
