a. Note:   unk River in Lot 26, situated in South Freetown. A total of 177 acres of land was acquired (75 acres from Caleb Taylor, 74 acres from Sarah Crosby which had been purchased In 1862 from James Taylor, 28 acres from William Dammarell) and this farm was inherited by his son Russell in 1933. This farm was sold to Elmer Smith in 1947 when Russell had to give up the farm because of illness. The family first lived in the house already on the farm, which was located near the river. Later a new house was built ca. 1895 at the present site on the South Freetown road. When the Scales Hydro Co. was formed on the Dunk River, 7 acres of farm land owned by William Burns was flooded.
Note:   At the death of his father, James Burns, William inherited the farm located on the road to Kinkora,in Lot 25, and sold this land (50 acres) to Isaac Lidstone in 1878. William purchased land on the D
