a. Note:   BIRTH: Charles was one year older than John-12 who was born in 1838 according to military records. MILITARY: Listed with no rank on all the musters copied in to file RIN12 of his brother John. As #86 on April 1861 to 1865. listed as prisoner at Cedar Creek. On letter dated 30 March 1903 from Verbena, AL to Colonel W. W. Brandon, Adjutant General, Montgomery, he was listed as captured 19 October 1864 at Belle Grove. (Colonel John MC ANERNEY's memoirs state that he was captured at Battle of South Mountain - held prisoner at Point Lookout.) The 1986 Rand McNally Road Atlas shows none of these locations for Virginia nor surrounding states. Compiler has following information, but has not yet seen a book enti- tled POINT LOOKOUT PRISON CAMP FOR CONFEDERATES by Edwin W. Beitzell of Abell MD 20606 in St. Mary's County which sells for $10.00 a copy. There is a reference to page 83 and dates Friday October 21 and 28 1864. What these pages contain is not yet known. Maps showing the Point Lookout Prison Camp as well as the Battle of Cedar Creek and the written history of the battle are filed in RIN12 folder.
