Note: !BIRTH: 11 APR 1830 Havre de Grace, Harford, Maryland !PARENTS' FAMILY MRIN: #17 Captain Charles PENDERGAST-129/Rosanna O'BRIEN-130 !MARRIAGE: MRIN358 James F. and his brother, Charles Henry, married sisters, - he married Adelaide Lynch-136 - Charles Henry married Louise Lynch-15. (Charles Henry and Louise are great grandparents of this compiler who knew his great grandmother when he was a youngster.) From the Onondaga Public Library, Local History/Special Collections listing "Persons-Prominent - Lynch, James (Esq.) - 1852. Nov. 25. Marriage" On the 23rd inst. by Rev. Mr. Kenna, James F. Pendergast, Esq. of Baltimore to Adelaide, daughter of James Lynch., Esq. of this city. (P.2 C.5 Nov. 25, 1852 S.D.S) MRIN359 to Mary W. (surname unknown) before 1884, date of their daughter, Clara's birth. It is apparent from a letter in the files of the New Cathedral Cemetery dated 8 JUL 1919 from James Lynch PENDERGAST-1104, President, United States Safe Deposit Co., 32 Liberty St., Mutual Life Bldg., New York City which said in part: "On my Mother's grave, the large monu- ment in the centre, there had also been the name of my step-mother inscribed - - - want no other names except my sister, Leila A. PENDER- GAST-1105. This monument was paid for by my grandfather [Captain Cha- rles PENDERGAST-129]". That the son of James F. PENDERGAST disapproved greatly the late-in-life remarriage of his father is evident. Leila A. PENDERGAST is RIN1105. (Compiler's note: This marriage also shows up as a "Demographic Anomaly" in the PAF software. Photocopy of the letter is filed in compiler's ahnentafel file #28 - Captain Charles Pendergast, g-great grandfather of this compiler). !DEATH: 21 MAR 1891 Baltimore,Baltimore,Maryland !BURIAL: New Cathedral Cemetery, 4300 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, Md, 21229 ph 301/566-7770 - Section H., Lots #540-542.
