Notes
a. Note:   !MARRIAGE: To Elizabeth RIN1653 !CENSUS: Elizabeth BREEDLOVE is listed in both 1820 and 1830 censuses as the head of a household with other BREEDLOVE names as follows: 1820 - BREEDLOVE, DAVID ROSS 297 TWIN TWP BREEDLOVE, ELIZABETH ROSS 301 TWIN TWP 1830 - BREEDLOVE, BAILES ROSS 262 TWIN TWP BREEDLOVE, DAVID ROSS 262 TWIN TWP BREEDLOVE, ELIJAH ROSS 250 CONCORD BREEDLOVE, ELIZABETH ROSS 262 TWIN TWP BREEDLOVE, ROBERT ROSS 262 TWIN TWP BREEDLOVE, WILLIAM ROSS 255 TWIN TWP !RESIDENCES: Thomas Breedlove, father of Elizah RIN22, David RIN158, Bayles RIN158 and William RIN1124 was reportedly a Scotsman from Maryland. However, compiler was unable to find any BREEDLOVEs in early Maryland censuses. It seems that they possibly came from Virginia where in Orange County among others, the BREEDLOVE name appeared. The History of Champaign County, Ohio, page 545 states that his son, Elijah, was born in Virginia. This conflict means that much more research needs to be done on this line. !CITATION: HISTORY OF CHAMPAIGN COUNTY OHIO by Judge Evan P. MIDDLETON, Volume I, 1917 B. F. BOWEN & Company, Inc. Elizah and David were sons of Thomas - Scotch". In the Igou folder (6-46), it will be noted that Elizah Breedlove (5-22) married Mary E. Igou - Bayles Breedlove married her half-sister, Pa- tience Igou. !SOURCE(2): The following is a copy of a hand-written letter postmarked 6 Feb 1992 from Candy BELL (a BREEDLOVE descendant), 9700 W 450S, Craw- fordsville IN. In case you haven't found the info you need by now, I will answer what I can. Yes, we are probably related because my family came from Ross Co. Ohio. VA m.[MRIN95] Sarah NICHOL [5 Jan 1832 I have info on family members, mostly from Ohio if you want it. I hope this filled in some blanks for you. There has always been "hear say" that Thomas was our great great granddad, but I have found no proof of this at all. There are absolutely no records that tell who Elizabeth was married to. Do you have proof of your Thomas? If so, that is the info I've been looking for for twenty years! (But if you got it from Olive Smith's book, it was hear say, info given by my father and not documented info.) She has many things wrong in her book. I wrote her with info of Robert's other wives and she refused it saying her line was correct and complete! Thank you for writing. I hope that you can make this out. Write again. Sincerely Candy BELL (BREEDLOVE) REMARKS(1): See notes on each of the four above sons' "Individual Notes" for LDS Church Batch Numbers, Serial Sheet Numbers, and Input Source Numbers. REMARKS(2): The Effie STAFFORD RIN85 mentioned in SOURCE(1) above was the daughter of Mary Ann BREEDLOVE RIN11 - granddaughter of Elijah BREEDLOVE RIN22 - and great granddaughter of Thomas BREEDLOVE RIN157. After the death of Elizah BREEDLOVE, her grandmother, Mary E. IGOU RIN23 made her home with the STAFFORD family until her death in 1891. This indicates that Effie, born 1868 lived in the same household with her grandmother for 23 years so in all probability the notation on her notepad about the BREEDLOVEs was from her personal knowledge. NOTES: On August 31, 1990, the compiler extracted all Ohio BREEDLOVE names from the Asheville NC LDS Library micro-fiche data and has sent to Salt Lake City for copies of those files. There were 4 Thomas BREEDLOVEs, but all reference dates are in the 1800s. None was found in the Mary- land micro-fiche. A photocopy of the above notes will be found in the compiler's STAFFORD file folder. The original is in the possession (in 1990) of Isabel Ruth MCROBERTS (Mrs. James Carlton DOCKERAY) RIN348 of Maitland, Florida. RESEARCH: The following is inserted here to inform future researchers as to searches which have been made concerning from where the Breedlove family migrated to Ross County, Ohio: Maryland Historical Society, 201 West Monument St., Baltimore Md 21201-4674 - 410/685-3750 - FAX 410/685-2105 - Sept 4, 1999. I have negative results on Maryland as birth plaxce of Thomas Breedlove 1770-1820 (died Ross, Ohio. I checked, found no printed book, nothing of mention of the surname in Genealogy file, Norris Harris Church file, File Case A, Dielman File (marriages and deaths in newspapers) Maryland Historical Society Magazine Index, Wilkins file, marriages of Maryland by Robert Barnes) I checked census indexes for Maryland, 1776, 1780, 1790, 1800, 1810. I checked on the Pennsylvania shelf census 1780, 1790, Pa Colonial and Revolutionary families of Pa, marriages thee before 1810 (and before 1790) Pa German marriages, Pa Vital Records. Pa famalies. In Filbys Passenger lists to get idea of a state or city, I checked all of his books 1982-1998. In Mr. Filbys book volume 187601990 I saw Mary H Breedlove in Galveston Tex 1839. You mihgt write to Galveston County Genealogical Society, Trivas Sheffield, 1701 9th Avenue N, Texas City TX 77590nd ask if they have any genealogy on the surname. I am enclosing a list of those in the Baltimore city phone book. You may try writing to them and some one may have researched on this name. Send a self addressed stamp envelope for a reply. I am sorry I can't come up with any better information. Sincerely (signed) Miss Margaret Neal, volunteer genealogist. EMAIL: Lawrence, happened to be browsing through the Russell Co., VA USGenWeb site today and found a Thomas Breedlove listed on the 1798 and 1799 Tax Lists and then two deeds, one to Thomas in 1799 and another from Thomas Breedlove and wife Elizabeth in 1800. This is the only Thomas who had a wife Elizabeth that I know of that early so he has to be your Thomas. My bet is that he is the son of Thomas Breedlove Jr who died in 1808 in Orange Co., VA as a son by that name is mentioned in his will. Hope this helps.
