a. Note:   !BIRTH: Estimated to be abt 1793 if he were 20 years old when mar- ried. Might have been Virginia, possibly Culpeper County. Family tradition claims family came from Maryland although compiler thus far has not been able to locate any Maryland BREEDLOVEs. Reference(2) below states that he emigrated from Kentucky to Ohio. PARENTS' FAMILY MRIN: #25 Thomas BREEDLOVE RIN157/Elizabeth unknown RIN1653 Family genealogy notes of Effie Stafford RIN85 state that Elizah and David were sons of Thomas Breedlove. Photocopies of her notes are in the compiler's Blue (Bible) folder along with photocopies of pages from the STAFFORD Bible. MARRIAGE(1): MRIN422 15 JUL 1813 Ross County OH to Maria MCKENZIE RIN1285. Photocopy of marriage certificate will be found in compiler's BREEDLOVE family file; it reads as follows: "The State of Ohio, Ross County. I, Isaac MCCRAKIN a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid do certify that I joined in marriage David BREEDLOVE and Maria MCKENZIE on Tuesday the 16" inst under my hand July 1? 1813. Isaac MCCRAKIN. Rec'd and Re-corded July 17" 1813." This photocopy was obtained from LDS, Salt Lake City UT. Question mark above for numeral not readable on photocopy. BREEDLOVE from the Cham- paign County, Ohio Recorder's file will be found in this compiler's BREEDLOVE file folder. The first is discharge as a private at conclusion of 3 years of service on 21 Sep 1864 and as a corporal 18 Dec 1865. Both confirm (by age) birth in Ross County in 1839. ANOMALY: Why he was called "Lewis J. Breedlove" in the Ross County Probate Court Case 674 is a puzzle since he and his brother Henry were brought by their uncle, Lewis I. BREEDLOVE as their guardian to Champaign County. 1850 census above named him "John". REFERENCE(1): LDS Batch M513201; Input Source 281637; Serial Sheet 1471, Page 4,713.
