Mary (Polly?), wife of Samuel, Conway & Fanny Ann, his wife, Nelson & Alice, his wife, and James & Mary Ann, his wife, made a quit claim deed to Daniel R. BELL. Question - if the land was turned over to the sons, 11 Mar 1844, why did Mary (Polly?), wife of Sa- muel, sign the last deed? Why did Samuel RECTOR not sign the deed? !SOURCE(1): The following was copied from the will of his father-in-law, Christopher WEAVER (jr) RIN139: "Item.- I give and bequeath unto the Children of my Daughter Polly RECTOR, wife of Samuel RECTOR,........." !SOURCE(2): RECTOR RECORDS by Larry KING, deceased, of 100 Longview Drive, Hendersonville TN 37075. (Book may be found in the Library of the National Genealogical Society). Fifth Genera- tion - page 14: "5-24 SAMUEL RECTOR s/o 4-8 b25Jul1787 Mason Co., KY M2Mar1809 Mary WEAVER. While "Polly" may be a substitute for "Mary" as is "Molly", the compiler assumes that her father would name her correctly in a document such as his will. Christopher did have another daughter named, Mary, who died age 14, and is buried in the RECTOR/GARD Cemetery with headstone inscription "WEAVER, Mary D. 1808 AGE 14 YRS DAU. OF CHRISTOPHER WEAVER". !NOTE: The notes below were copied from a GEDCOM named "Rector.GED", dated 7 JAN 1990 of the records of Charles C. Virts, Jr. P.O. Box 8638, Sacramento, California 95818 916-447-9399 Charles is a 5th cousin, 1 generation removed, of this compiler. Daniel RECTOR is the mutual ancestor. Samuel is identified as the son of Charles & Sarah (Chapman) Rector on page 7 in the book Rector Records, authored and published (1986) by Larry King of Hendersonville, Tennessee. (Copy on file) Samuel is also identified as the son of Charles & Sarah Rector on page 683 of The History of Clark County, Ohio, published (1881) by W.H. Beers & Company, Chicago, Illinois. (Copy on file) Birth date (25 July 1787) and location are recorded on page 14 of Mr. King's book. His birth place is identified as Mason County, Kentucky, however this may be incorrect. Samuel's father, Charles, stated in his application for pension that he lived in Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virgina), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, then Mason County, Kentucky. Census records indicate his father was in Hampshire County, Virginia in 1782 (although they also indicate he was gone from here in 1784) and in Pennsylvania by 1790. (Copy of pension application on file) !Marriage: Married Mary Weaver, 2 Mar. 1809, according to infor- mation on page 14 of Mr. King's book. His wife is identified as Polly in the will of her father Christopher Weaver, recorded on page 144 & 145 of Will Book "B" at the Champaign County Courthouse, Urbana, Ohio. Compilers note: Page 97 of Champaign County, Ohio marriage record "A" has an entry for the marriage of Samuel Rector and Charlotte Templeton, 14 January 1819. There was another Samuel Rector in Champaign County as indicated in census records. !Census(1): The 1820 census of Champaign County, Ohio lists Samuel Rector on page 462. He is engaged in farming in Mad River Township. The family consists of four males under age 10, one male aged 10 to 15, one male aged 26 to 44 and one female aged 26 to 44. !Census(2): The 1830 census of Champaign County, Ohio lists Samuel on page 35.
