Honorably Discharged 17 December 1907. He reenlisted for one year 23 December 1907. Discharge was dated 26 January 1909. Original documents are in compiler's RIN2 file folder. He was later in the New Jersey National Guard Cavalry when residing in Westfield, NJ. Was given a hardship discharge at the time that his outfit was to be called to the Mexican border (1916?) since he was married with one (or two - compiler's brother, Marshall was born 31 March 1916) child. Weaver, Publishing Leader, Dies Laurence Albert (Larry) Weaver, 70, prominent Atlantan and a founder of Weaver, Inc., publishers' representatives. died here Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness. A native of Urbana, Ohio, Mr. Weaver began his brilliant career in the Advertisiing deprtment of Harper & Brothers in 1900, later joining the New York space sales staff of the Curtis Publishing Company. He successively became eastern advertising manager of Good Housekeeping, business manager of House Beautiful, and director of group sales for Stuyvesant Publications, House Beautiful, Harper's Bazaar, Town & Country, and Americn Architect. HERE 15 YEARS Resigning a position with Hearst Magazines, Inc., Mr. Weaver came to Atlanta in 1938 and formed a partnership with H. F. (Buddy) Cogill. Their firm represented Printer's Ink and other Hearst publications. Subsequently, Mr. Weaver was an independent publisher's representative. At the end of World War II he was joined by his son, Laurence A. Weaver, Jr., and in 1948 founded the firm of Weaer, Inc., publishers' represenatives, with home office in Atlanta and a branch office in Tyler, Texas. Since his retirement a few years ago, Mr. Weaver had made his home at 1320 Ocean Drive, Harbor Beach. Fort Lauderdale, Fla. SERVED WITH OPA He was a member of Atlanta's Capital City Club, Lodge 999, F. & A. M., Bayside, N.Y.; Knights Templar, and a member of both the New Jersey and New York National Guards. A volunteer worker with OPA during the war, he was in charge of price panels, and the automobile rationing board. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday in Spring hill Chapel. The Rev. John F. McDonough will officiate. Surviving are his wife, Marie Louise; three sons, J. Marshall and Laurence A. Weaver, Jr., Atlanta; Frank Stafford Weaver, Louisville, Ky; and one grandchild."
