BREEDLOVE, born March 2, 1836, Ross Co., Ohio, died March 12, 1892, was brought to Champaign County at the age of 12 by his uncle, Elijah BREEDLOVE from Wayne Township. Henry married Mary J. STONE who was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas F. STONE and Mary STONE of Cable, Ohio. (Note: The Henry C. FINLEY and Rufus PUTNAM, 1871 - "David BREEDLOVE, Benjamin BRAILEY, Presley JOHNSON and John REED emigrated to Ohio from Kentucky in the early days of the country." (Compiler's comment: #4 was added to show that perhaps David BREEDLOVE -158 a brother of Elijah, came to Ross County early, but not necessarily in company with his brothers. Kentucky data on the BREEDLOVEs needs to be researched. However, the 1800 Kentucky census reveals no BREEDLOVE names - James and William BREEDLOVE were listed in Madison Co. KY in the 1810 census, the only BREEDLOVEs in Kentucky.) !SOURCE(5): HISTORY OF CHAMPAIGN COUNTY PAGE 545: "Elijah BREEDLOVE came from Ross County Ohio, and settled in the west end of the township, in 1832, on a farm now owned by his son, Lewis I. He was born in Virginia. Was a man of great business energy, and contributed largely to the busi- ness prosperity of Wayne and Salem Townships. He had four sons - William-109, Lewis I.-110, David C.-112 and Thomas H.-113, who became citizens of the township. His youngest son, Thomas H. made a creditable record as a soldier in the sixty-sixth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and bears honorable scars that attest his devotion to his country. One daugh- ter, Mary Ann-11, is the wife of E. W. STAFFORD-10, of Urbana. Mr. BREEDLOVE died in 1861. (Note: E. W. and Mary Ann STAFFORD were the great grandparents of this compiler; Elizah and Mary E. BREEDLOVE were the great, great grandpar- ents). !SOURCE(6): Champaign County Genealogical Society Newsletter - Fall 1994 - page 92 - reprinting an article on South Wayne Township in the Urbana Daily Citizen 7 Aug 1957 by Warren Everhart, County Recorder. Mentions that Elijah BREEDLOVE settled in the southeast corner of the township. !MISCELLANEOUS: This is for the record and possible later use. Emanuel W. STAFFORD, Administrator of the Estate of David C. BREEDLOVE on 12 February 1876 made report to the Probate Court of Champaign County, Ohio, copy of which will be filed in this compiler's Emanuel STAFFORD file folder. Names mentioned include among others, James M. STAFFORD* who is unknown to this compiler. David's widow is "now MILLER" indicating re- marriage. Fannie-Y2412 and Sallie-Y2413, minor heirs have been added to the family group sheet, now identified by the above numbers. *This was probably James N. Stafford-104, younger brother of Emanuel. A report dated March 30, 1867 (year hard to read!) lists many people. Among family names was John A. BREEDLOVE, not identified by this compiler. !ANOMALIES: Son, William D. BREEDLOVE-109 was born 28 Nov. 1818, 5 years before 24 DEC 1823, their wedding date. This showed up in the "Possible Record Problems" section of the computer software, Personal Ancestral File. His date of birth is 5 years prior to parent's marriage according to computer's "Possible Record Problems". However, both his date of birth and that of his parents marriage are both entered in the STAFFORD Bible. Photocopies of those Bible pages will be found in the compiler's BREEDLOVE and/or STAFFORD file folders.
