Note: !BIRTH: 1831 is calculated from census data - age 24 in 1855 - age 29 in 1860. Since wedding took in Brooklyn, it is assumed that this was her home. !SOURCE(1): Records at St. John the Baptist Church in Syracuse, New York received 5/10/1996. To be filed in compiler's ahnentafel file folder for James Lynch, folder #30-5. Contains marriage, death and burial data. Also in the same package were copies of newspaper clippins etc. from the Onondaga Historical Association, 311 Montgomery St., Syracuse NY 13202. !MARRIAGE: To John O'Sullivan Lynch - 8 Oct 1856 Brooklyn, Kings County, New York at St. Charles Church - later divorced (or separated) She left him sometime after 1870 taking her children with her back to New York City. (or Brooklyn?). SOURCE(2): From the Collections of the Onondaga Historical Society - a newspaper clipping dated Oct 15, 1867: "ANOTHER VISIT FROM SHERIDAN - We understand that General Sheridan will return from his visit to Ohio in two or three weeks, and that he has accepted an invitation from J.O.S. Lynch, esq., of the First Ward, to spend several days with him. General Sheridan was in school with Mrs. L., when children together in Ohio." NOTE: A search on the Internet revealed that Somerset, Perry County, Ohio claims to be the home of General Sheridan. Since he was a graduate of West Point, his early schooling would probably have been in Somerset. This would indicate that her home had been in Somerset prior to living in Brooklyn, New York. This would require further research.
