Note: !BIRTH: About 1790 in New Jersey. We have a verified date for his sister, Nancy - 16 April 1786. !MARRIAGE: Must have been quite late in life, before 1826 when Mary Ann was born. Also his daughter Margaret was born 30 Dec 1838 calculated from death date on her headstone. 1880 census Johnson Township, Champaign County, Ohio confirms that her father, this William, was born in New Jersey and her mother in Maryland (possibly across the Potomac River opposite Hampshire County,. Virginia?) !CENSUS: 1840 Johnson Township William Chapman 2 males 5-10 1830-1835 5-10 1830-1835 1 male 10-15 1825-1830 1 male 40-50 1790-1800 William 636 2 females under 5 1835-1840 Margaret Dawson 443 1835-1840 1 female 10-15 1825-1830 1 female 15-20 1820-1825 1 female 30-40 1800-1810 Mary Colter 2007 1880 census, Johnson Township, Champaign County, Ohio Person Father Mother RIN WEAVER, William 49 M Farmer OH VA VA 440 " Margaret 39 F OH NJ MD wife 443 (Margaret's maiden name was CHAPMAN) " Verner 16 M school OH OH OH son 444 " Mary 80 F at home VA MD MD mother 322 This census is shown to prove the birth of her father, Wil- liam CHAPMAN (jr) to have been in New Jersey and her mother, Mary COLTER, in Maryland. !REFERENCE(1): Letter dated 25 Aug 1988 from Joy J.
