Cowan executor Witness: Asa Kirkley Cyrus Kirkley will signed 12 Feb 1842 PUBLIC RECORDS OF CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, OHIO, CHANCEDRY RECORDS OF THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS: Record Boo 18, Page 388 - Filed 5 July 1843 Lucia Maria Chapman vs Argus B. Cowan et al Enoch L. Chpman died in February 1842 leaving Lucia Maria Chapman of Somerford, Madison County as his widow and Enoch Ordilla Chapman, under the age of 6 years. Other persons nmed were: Laura Cowan; Ephraim L. Chapman; Lois wife of Joseph Denaugh of Missouri; Louis Chapman of Missouri and Typhenia L. Chapman and Argus B. Cowan. Argus B. Cowan of Champaign County had asked Lucia Maria to sign over Enoch L. Chapamn's will to him for probate. In fact Lucia had signed a relinquishment to the estate. The court overturned the relinguishment in the August term of 1843. Record Book 20, Page 283 - Filed 1 May 1844 - Petition to Sell Land Asa Kirkley, Administrator de bonis non of Enoch S. Chapman vs Lucretia Chpman & others Enoch S. Chapman died seized of Out-Lot Numbers 27 and 28 in Norton, Delaware County, Ohio. His heirs were: Lucretai Chpman, widow and the only child, Enoch Ordilla Chpman, both of Mdison County, Ohio. Nathew Arbuckle of Madison County, Ohio was the guardian.
