Note: Father of Myrtle Dillon Born March 4, 1901. Died April 26, 1973. Carter and Lora were married on June 15, 1925. Born in Chetek, WI. While a young lad, his family moved to Everett, Washington, where he spent his childhood. Under the guidance of devoted S. S. teachers at the Alliance Church that he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. After completing high school, he attended Simpson College and Nyack (NY) College. By the time of graduation from Nyack, he was engagaged to Lora Newberry. Sailed for China in the fall of 1923. 1 1/2 years of concentrated Chinese language study. Twenty five years missionary to China. Three trips or furloughs made back to the U. S. during this time. The first in 1927, the second in 1934, the third in 1943. During one of these furloughs, he graduated with a B.A. from Seattle Pacific College. Growing plants and flowers was an interest of Carter's, which began in China, continued and intensified during his lifetime. This led to his being employed by the W. Atlee Burpee Seed Company for 20 years, until his retirement in 1971.
