Pa. on 01 Jan 1754, the son of Jacob Bauman. He was baptized at Trappe Lutheran Church on 11 Apr 1754. Sponsors were Jacob Kalb and his father, Martin. Dauphin Co. He paid 75 pounds. Witnesses were John Bickel and Louis Kreider. The tract was named "Friendship". It had originally been warranted on 01 Mar 1774 to Jacob Albert. It was "over the Blue Mountains on a a branch of Mahantonga Creek" and it abutted the lands of Jacob Stauch and John Herter. The deed was recorded 28 Feb 1811. In 1816 many people from the Mahantonga Valley moved to Stark co. Ohio and purchased land there. John Bwman went with the group but returned to Pa. (Reference: "Old Landmarks of Canton and Stark Co. Ohio", Danner 1904, pages 1306/7 -- Salem, Ohio Public Library.) A John Bowman bought land from Jacob Bowman in Stark Co. Ohio in Nov 1823 for $300. His children Adam, Jacob, and Esther moved west to Illinois with their families. This probably occurred in the 1860s after the deaths of their father and mother. On 11 May 1855 he wrote his will which gave everything to his wife as long as she should live. After her death his grandson, Beneville, was to receive $100 which was to be invested until he reached 21. His son, Adam, was to receive $100 less than the others because he "showed misconduct against" his father. The estate was then to be divided among all the children equally. Witnesses were David Gerhart and Samuel S. Engle. The will was proved on 13 Jun 1859 and letters of administration were granted to George and Jacob Bowman.
