Note: My family emigrated from Fahrendorf, Hanover, Germany in 1852. He is the Adolf Cordes whose family went to Cole Camp, Mo and then went to Pochahantas, IA. Adolph Cordes was born January 30, 1816 at Fahrendorf, Hanover, Germany. He was a farmer. Came to America sometime between May 1, 1852 and May 1, 1853. Settled near Indian Creek (now Mt. Hulda) near Boeschenville, Benton County, Missouri. He died September 4, 1891 of stomach cancer. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Biezen of the Lutheran Church. His obituary states that he received a pension for military service at Burgerkreig. I have a fairly complete tree made by my father's cousin, Lillie Landolt about twenty five years ago in Des Moines, IA. My tree started with Adolf, Claus, John Anton, Claus Henry then me. If you have other information on this family, I would be interested. Today I clicked on an Everton newsletter which happened to be about the Civil War, which I pursued and found this web site which appears to be mostly submitted by you. Is that correct? Anyway, I was so excited to find names I recognized: Adolph Cordes, Claus Cordes (my great-grandfather) and Peter Ficken. I do have a CORDES FAMILY HISTORY, compliled in 1973 by Lillie Cordes Landolt and have been looking thru it tonite. Am I correct, that your great-grandmother was Ann Margaretha Cordes?? If, indeed, we are related, I can tell you about my visit to Cole Camp three years, visiting with a 3rd cousin and her husband who took us around to the different cemeteries and the old homestead which dates back to 1850s. Was a real step back in time. Look forward to hearing from you. Joan Wright 8803 NW Melody Dr Parkville, MO 64152
