Note: My family emigrated from Fahrendorf, Hanover, Germany in 1852. He is the Adolf Cordes whose family went to Cole Camp, Mo and then went to Pochahantas, IA. Adolph Cordes was born January 30, 1816 at Fahrendorf, Hanover, Germany. He was a farmer. Came to America sometime between May 1, 1852 and May 1, 1853. Settled near Indian Creek (now Mt. Hulda) near Boeschenville, Benton County, Missouri. He died September 4, 1891 of stomach cancer. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Biezen of the Lutheran Church. His obituary states that he received a pension for military service at Burgerkreig. I have a fairly complete tree made by my father's cousin, Lillie Landolt about twenty five years ago in Des Moines, IA. My tree started with Adolf, Claus, John Anton, Claus Henry then me. If you have other information on this family, I would be interested. Claus Cordes is my 2nd great grandfather and Adolph would be my 3rd great grandfather through my mother's (Mariece Cordes Simpson) side of the family. I enjoyed reading about the Civil War in Benton Co., and was impressed with your photographs included in the grave citations. I was wondering if I might have your permission to include your photos in my family tree? I have only been seriously researching for a few weeks and have been very impressed with the information I have been able to find. Your pictures would greatly enhance my project, and I would be extremely grateful to include them if you wouldn't object. Thank you very much for your time, Robert Simpson. (rws6286@@hotmail.com)
