AL "The First Hundred Years 1818-1918" by Rhoda Coleman Ellison Page 78 Community of Green Pond Green Pond Academy WILLIAM WILSON MOORE, A local Presbyterian Minister, headed the school from 1854 until 1867 except for the year 1864-65, when he served as a Confederate Chaplain. After a series of short lived administrations, ANDREW W HAYES, nephew and former student of Rev Moore, became principal of the academy in 1876 and except for a year in which he completed his University study, guided the GREEN POND ACADEMY and its sucessor, the Woodstock Adademy, for the rest of the century.
