Note: The Original Rothwell book has Walter B. Rothwell's daughter's birth dates switched. Louisa "Lovey" Rothwell was born in 1845. Her Sister Sarah Lucy Rothwell was born in 1854. This is proven on the 1870, Texas County, Missouri Census. It is also proven for Lovey, on the 1880, 1900, 1910 census records, and on her birth stone at Pleasant Palin Cemetery, Osborne County, KS. Lovey's husband's actual name was Alfred Tillman Huffman (1843-1889), They were married in 1872, in Summersville Texas County, MO. His parents were David R. Huffman and Sarelda England Deatherage. Alfred fought for the Confederacy, with the 8th Missouri Infantry, Co. B. He is buried at Bethel Cemetery, near Summersville. David Yost 8600 E. It is very interesting about this Verona. I don't remember where the date from Charlotte's death came from but possibly the Bible of Wellington Rothwell. It was seen by George Shyrock Rothwell in the 90's and Mom and I later saw it. The Lawson cemetery has only a few Lawson names like Tyra Lawson and his wife Mary Hart Lawson and some of their children. It has a lot of unmarked graves. The Rothwell cemetery is not too far from the Lawson cemetery and there were just two markers of Richard and Walter B Rothwell there as documented at the library in McMinn co. The county documented about 6 grave imprints plus markers that were down. I have some more information somewhere about I believe 17 graves were there. The Lawsons and Rothwells were neighbors. George Shyrock Rothwell found this old cemetery back in the 90's. It was cleaned up and a piece of a marker of Lucy Rothwell White, daughter of Richard, was also found. A Mrs. Reno that lived in Oak Ridge Tennessee said that her grandfather owned the property after the Rothwell's left and he took care of the cemetery. He was a Rogers. She said she played with siblings at the cemetery when she was small. ( I believe they played they were having funerals). She said there very large purple Crepe Myrtles surrounding the cemetery and there were slaves and Rothwell's buried there and everyone had a marker. My Mom and I in the 90's visited an elderly lady across from the cemetery off highway 30 in McMinn Co Tenn. The lady told us she remembered her brother telling her in the past that some gentleman( I guess previous owner) should not have bulldozed that cemetery down. George Shyrock Rothwell found the two stones in the 90's of Richard and Walter B. Rothwell and placed them against a tree. I don't know specifically if it is written that Charlotte is buried at the Rothwell cemetery or the Lawson cemetery. Both cemeteries are not that far from each other but since this cemetery was a family cemetery and on the Rothwell farm, it is more plausible that Charlotte was buried there. The one stone that we placed in the Rothwell cemetery lists Richard and Lucy Barksdale Rothwell on one side of the marker and Walter B and Charlotte Lawson Rothwell on the other side. On the side where Richard and Lucy are mentioned we placed dates for their daughter Lucy Rothwell White because we found a piece of her marker in the cemetery. After Walter B. Rothwell died in 1862 all his children moved to Missouri except their oldest son William T. Rothwell which was my great great grandfather. I believe younger siblings of William T went with their older sister to live in Missouri. William T's sister, Mary Ann Rothwell, who married Isaac L. Miller is buried in Kansas. She died Oct. 3 1900 and was buried Oct. 5, 1900 in Kansas. I am much interested in the Lawson and Rogers line since Tyra Lawson's father was a Rogers. Tyra married as a Rogers to Polly Hart in 1820 in Roane co. Tenn. That is the only time he is listed as Rogers. We have seen that his father was George Rogers of Hawkins County Tenn., the son of a William Rogers and his mother was Sally Lawson the daughter of John Lawson. John Lawson and William Rogers were cousins. This is what was found years ago. I would like to see if Charlotte Lawson and Walter B. Rothwell were in fact cousins since Walter B. descends through Giles Rogers of Albemarle co. Virgina. Rogers eventually got The old Rothwell farm and took care of the cemetery there. Thank you so much for clearing up the mystery of Verona Rothwell. I'll pass that information on to family. The Rothwell book states that Walter B. Rothwell is buried in the Lawson Cemetery but we know that he is buried in the Rothwell Family Cemetery. We found his marker there. We believe that Charlotte is with him there. Also in the Rothwell book page 64 under William T. Rothwell. It is stated that he married Adeline Elizabeth Card. The book states Adeline's mother's( Probably should be Adelade) maiden name was Thomas. This is wrong. Her mother was Catherine Shoemake who married Zemeriah Card. Catherine Shoemake's mother was Elizabeth Thomas Shoemake, the daughter of John and Catherine Bird Thomas. Catherine Bird Thomas was the daughter of Col. Abraham and Rachel Zigler Bird of Shenandoah county Virginia. So a generation was skipped. So the mother's maiden name was Shoemake and grandmother's maiden name was Thomas. I know that inconsistencies occur when history is passed down. I was afraid that one of Richard Rothwell's children had been missed. I am glad that is not the case.
