Notes
a. Note:   Just to let you know how I fit into the Rothwell picture, Claiborne Rothwell was my great x4 grandfather. I am descended from his second son, John Peter Rothwell, whose third daughter Matilda Caroline married John Defoe and moved to Moniteau County MO in the late 1820s, not long after their marriage. I live just outside Detroit MI, phone number (313) 882-5018 and email address spberry@att.net.
From material Don Longworth sent me several years ago, I gather you are a great x3 grandson of Claiborne through John Peter's youngest brother William Hamilton. I guess that makes us fourth cousins one generation removed. Welcome to my part of the family!
I have excellent documentation of my ancestry back to Claiborne Rothwell but from there back I am pretty much in the dark about everything, as I guess is the case with most of the other people looking for material on Claiborne and wife Judy. Better than 90% of what I do know comes from your biography in your addendum to Myra Fischer's Rothwell book.
If you have any other information in this area, I'd surely be happy to know about it or where it can be found. And of course I'd be happy to share any details about my end of the family that you might want.
I talked on the phone to a fellow named Ken Rothwell, who lives in Charlottesville, when we passed through there several years ago but he didn't answer my letters back then. I got the impression he had a good deal of early Rothwell information. Guess I'll have to see if I can find him again.
It was good talking to you tonight.
