William Brooks was born in North Carolina in 1782. Now, 11 sets of yDNA evidence indicates the parent of William Brooks , was William Brooks, Sr., the son of Robert Brooks and Brambly Rose Brooks.
  He married Martha Jane Weaver. She was the daughter of Othiniel Weaver of green county, GA and the grand daughter of Aaron Weaver of SC.
  Othiniel weaver's stepdaughter, lucinda chivers, Was the rev. Jesse mercer's first wife. Rev. Mercer founded mercer University.
  William brooks joined the " 1st. Ga. Militia" at hartford, ga. In feb. of 1818 to serve as a cook in the "Seminole war of 1817-1818". He served For 3 months and was paid $28.83 for his effort. The William Brooks family appears in the Morgan County, Ga. Census of 1820 where several of his childres were born. He apparenbtly settled in Walton county, GA. Around 1822 on 250 acres purchased from the Rev. Jesse Mercer for $1.00 per acre. This 250 acres is situated in the brooks Militia district near between, GA.
