a. Note:   Enlisted with Robert`s Horse regiment.Wounded at Diamond Hill.Later linked up with Royal Canadian Dragoons near Belfast. Was with Genral Turner when he got the Victoria Cross.Reurned to Canada before going back to South Africa.In 1911, he attended the coronation of King George V. Enlisted the first day recuits were called for WWI. Was transferred for special duty in charge of guards on bridges between Ottawa and Valcartier military camp.Left for France in November 1916. Promoted to Captain and awarded Military Cross in April 1917. Returned to Canada in 1918 with rank of Major.
Note:   Enlisted with Royal Rifles in 1896.Went to South Africa as a stowaway at age 17.
