Note:   aph, Saturday November 20 Trinity Church On St. Stanislas Street Prepares To Observe 129th Anniversary The Chapel of Ease, now Trinity Church, St. Stanislas street, celebrating its 129th anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 21, will have as a guest preachers the Ven. Russell Brown, Archdeacon of Quebec, and Rev. Kenneth Keefe, Rural Dean of Quebec, during morning and evening services respectively. Jonathan Sewell build and paid for the church in 1825, and installed as rector his son, Rev. E. W. Sewell, on the approval of Bishop Jacob Mountain. Mr. (Rev.) Sewell had charge of the parish for 45 years. Jonathan Sewell sold the church to the congregation about 1880. It was established as Trinity Church by the congregation in 1881. Jonathan Sewell was, in turn, solicitor general of the province, attorney and advocate-general, judge of the court of vice-admiralty, chief justice, chairman of the executive council, and speaker of the legislature.
