  A, p.96; D.A.R. National No. 113478. Vicki Maddox gives birth date as 23 Feb 1812, and says that her maiden name might have been "Bottom" as it is given as this by her grandaughter on Catherine's death certificate. After Lewis's death, Jane ran a boarding house in Bloomfield, Iowa, then moved to Cornwalis, Montana with her children. I have a copy of her obit, which is short: "Mrs. Janette Wayland, aged 88, died last Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Horn, on Willow Creek, after a lingering illness. The funeral was held Friday at the Corvallis Cemetary (date written in by hand of 1-5-60).
