Note: Fremont Daily Messenger November 26, 1937 Aged Residnt Dies Thursday Martin Vogel, Retired Farmer, Stricken; Ill Three Months Martin Vogel, 87 of 804 Chestnut street, retired farmer, and resident of Fremont for the past 30 years, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday. He had been ill for three months with complications incident to his advanced age. Funeral services will be held from the Weller Company funeral home at 1 p. m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. F. M. Otto, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church. Internment will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body is at the Weller Company funeral home. Mr. Vogel was a pioneer member of the Fremont lodge, I. O. O. F., and active in St. Mark's Lutheran church. He was born in Germany, February 25, 1850, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Marton Vogel, Sr They have preceded him in death, together with his first wife, Mary Ellen Waggoner Vogel, a daughter, a son and two sisters and a brother. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Harriett Rosenfelt Vogel; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Herman and Mrs. Jeanette Willey of Sandusky township; a step son, Frank Rosenfelt of Republic; a step daughter, Mrs. Nora Gruver, Green Springs; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Saturday in the Weller company funeral home for Martin Vogel, 87, retired farmer, who died in his home at 804 Chestnut street Thanksgiving morning. The Rev F. M. Otto, pastor of the St. Mark's Lutheran church, officiated and internment was in Oakwood cemetery. I. O. O. F. services were held, with George Brokate and Ed Bradley in charge. Pallbearers were friends and I. O. O. F. members, including George Willard, George Ebright, Will Tillotson, Ed Deemer, Carl Andecover and Mr. Berger. Mr. Vogel was a pioneer member of the Fremont I. O. O. F. lodge.
