  Anna, nee Scherb, spouse of Martin Vogel, Sr, born June 5, 1824, In Apfingen, in the jurisdiction of Freiburg, Baden, Germany. In infancy she was babtized and thus received into the grace of god. At the age of about 14 years she was instructed in the christian religion and confirmned upon confessing her faith. She was faithful to her promise. Mar. 27, 1849, she entered the holy estate of Matrimony with Martin Vogel, Sr They enjoyed the blessing of living together. God blessed them with three children, one son and two daughters. June 1, 1852 she came with her husband to America. They lived at first in Ottawa county, later they moved near Fremont, and still later they moved into the city, where she died March 26, 1893, at the age of 68 years 9 months, and 21 days. Her youngest, daughter preceeded her. She leaves a aged and mouning husband, two sorrowing children, one son and one daughter, two sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held in St. Mark's Lutheran church March 28, 1893, at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. G. Mochel There was a large attendance. Internment took place in Oakwood cemetery.
