a. Note:   John Henry Beise was born March 10, 1876 to Wilhelmina and George Beise in Medo Township near Mapleton. He attended school in Mapleton, attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated from the school of Pharmacy in 1898. He worked as a pharmacist until 1900 when he bought a drug store in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The family made their home in Fergus Falls and besides operating his drug store, he was, for some years, president of the State Board of Pharmacy. In 1906 a daughter, Corinne Helena was born, and in 1908, a second daughter, Louise Margaret arrived. The family lived in Fergus Falls until 1923 when they took a trip to California, where they planned to spend the winter. Instead they decided to make Glendale their home. Numerous trips were taken back to Minnesota and in 1925 the family home and business in Fergus Falls were sold. John Beise retired when the family moved to California, his health was not the best, but he had many hobbies and lived in Glendale until his death in 1947.
