Notes
a. Note:   Mrs. David R. McRitchie died at the family home, this city, Friday, September 8, 1922, aged 84 years, one month and 21 days. The infirmities of old age caused death. Her husband, the late Judge David R. Mcritchie, died July 16, of this year. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Lattimore and was born in Bay Township, the Sandusky County, July 18, 1838. Her parents were born in Egland and they met after the war of 1812, in Indiana, where they were married. John Lattimore was a soldier in the British army in the war and after peace declared he remained in this country and became a citizen. He and his wife moved from their home Indiana home in 1822 and settled in Sandusky County. He purchased a large tract of land and was one of the most prosperous farmers of his time. The Lattimore family was known all over Northwestern Ohio for their hospitality which was always extended to the stranger. The Lattimore and McRitchie families were neighbors and Lucy Lattimore and David R. McRitchie grew to be great friends while attending Oberlin College. This friendship culminated in their marriage December 30th, 1858. They at once began housekeeping on one of the McRitchie farms, and she aided her husband in every way in the success that crowned his efforts as as successful farmer. She was a typical pioneer girl and mother. As a girl she won the prize as the best horseback rider at one of the fairs held in this county. She always took a keen interest in organizations for the betterment of society. She believed in the curch and insisted that her children be brought up with the proper religious training. She was a devoted wife and mother and accompanied her children to the old Good Templar lodge and saw that they attended Sunday school. She was one of the charter members of the Ladies Social Club and took an active part in its programs. She is survived by five sons and two daughters: John R., George W., Frank, Milton who reside here, and Ralph, who resides at Lima.
