Note: 1. The US Census for 1900 gives this name as Maria N (Source: ID #1AAH). 2. The obituary of Marie A. Boughton: Marie A. Boughton was born in Sigourney County, Iowa, July 30, 1846 and was united in marriage to Abraham H. Needles October 25, 1862(2) at Winterset, Iowa, and moved to Audubon County in the year of 1884 and has resided here ever since. To this union were born 4 children, namely: Mrs. Stella M. Beems of Mills, Nebraska, Mrs. B.A. Keith of Audubon, Iowa, Mr. J.H. Needles Sioux City, Iowa and Miss Etta Needles which all survive the death of the father and mother except Etta who departed this life May 8, 1889. Since the death of Mr. Needles which occurred September 4, 1910(1), Mother has been very lonely and has often expressed herself that she was ready to die, not withstanding everything was done to make her comfortable by her children that was possible. In the year of 1898 the subject of this sketch united with the Baptist Church of Audubon and afterwards uniting with the Church of Christ of this city. About three weeks ago mother took sick with bronchitis and a few days later nephritis developed and continued to grow worse until she succumbed May 14, 1912 at about two o'clock Tuesday afternoon being 65 years 10 months and 14 days of age. By the deceased the funeral services are being held at the home in the south part of the city by the pastor where he tried to speak words of comfort to the friends and relatives that gathered to pay a tribute of respect to a neighbor and a friend on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Sister Needles was a very kind mother and was devoted to her home and children for which they will always feel that they owe a debt of gratitude, which they will never be able to pay. Mother leaves one son, two daughters, one granddaughter Mrs. Bert Eaton of Audubon, and three granchildren at Sioux City - Ward, Floyd, and Thelma Needles, and one great Grandson Halver Eaton of Audubon with many friends to mourn her loss, but they mourn not as those who have no hope.
