Notes
a. Note:   5'0" in height, red hair, fair complexion, 145 lb.
  1. In a memorandum to her son, CB Needels, Elizabeth Cubbage wrote: "In my 17th year, I set out for Heaven. I have never felt like giving up the cause of Christ since I joined the church, and, truly, I feel much indebted to grace for what the good Lord has done for unworthy me and mine, and for that Love I have so often enjoyed that casteth out all slavish fear, and while I write I feel to praise God with all my heart for the Glorious hope I yet retain if I improve the grace already given I shall rest with Christ and be forever blest. O may we all so live as to meet in that happy land and take no more the parting hand. I thought I would write some for you to read when I lie silent in the grave and in a nobler sweeter song I will sing there is power to save. Nov. 14, 1870, 47 years ago, today, you were born if Fairfield County, Ohio, and I am here in Morrow County, Ohio, and I want to be thankful that circumstances are as favorable with me as they are. I have all I need to make me comfortable and your Father is as kind to me as I can ask. This is written with a feeling heart and trembling hand, and, if no more on Earth we meet, oh may we meet in Heaven, for there alone no sorrow is known. Elizabeth Needels, your Mother." (ID #1CS, page 5)
  2. CB Needels wrote of his mother: "5 ft. in height, Red hair, fair complexion, average wt. 145 pounds. A Baptist until married, then a Methodist , with free salvation as her song, yet living well at my Br, GC Needles, Bethany, Mo. Her motto: Anything for the easy life and quiet one. She never purposely hurt anyone and Benevolent to almost a fault. She died at the house of her daughter, Mary J Gilbert, in the town of Albany, in Gentry Co, MO, March 16, 1844, in the full triumph of a living faith, and taken by her son, Thomas C, to Ohio, and buried by the side of her husband in Bloomfield Cemetery, Morrow Co, Ohio."
