a. Note:   1. "Ollie" Needels was, at the very least, a cross dresser. Whispered among the family, but unconfirmable, was the rumor that he/she was a true hermaphrodite.
  2. On those days when she was dressed as a woman, she was known to the children of her siblings as "Aunt Ollie." On those days he was dressed as a man, he was known as "Uncle Ollie."
  3. Reportedly was, at one time, in possession of a book of Needels family history. The current (1998) location of this book is unknown.
  4. Died in Eureka, KS.
  5. Listed as a daughter, named Flora, in the US Census for Gentry County, MO, for 1880 (Source: ID #1AL) RELI: CONC reek and Caterab, Peoria and Stanton, in Franklin County RELI: SOUR @S03943@ PAGE 13
