a. Note:   lived in a sod house closer to town (George Bott farm) with her parents and her six siblings and in 1918 a large framed kitchen was added on to the soddy. As a young woman, Cora worked at Decker's, a general store in Melbeta. She was engaged to be married to Lewis Hood, who died serving in World War I. She then married Forrest Cochran and together had six children who are all presently living. After her husband's death she remained a widow and lived out her life in Melbeta being the matriarch and center of her large family, including 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
