a. Note:   born Feb. 5, 1854 in Overton County, Tenn. and came to Texas when small. When he was about 10 his father died and left the care of the family to him. He was a farmer and married S. E. Carpenter on March 29, 1879 in Kaufman County Texas. She died about six months later . He was married the second time to Amanda Emma Ware (b. Feb. 7, 1862) at the home of her parents in Kaufman County,Texas om December 15, 1886. They lived near Kemp where all nine of their children were born. Moved west in 1906 and lived one year in Bellevue then to Estelline in Hall Co. in Jan 1908.They moved to Grey Co. in 1913 and lived there until 1916. Moved to Lynn Co. in 1916 and farmed their land there. Member of Wells Baptist Church. Burried in Tahoka, Tx. Cemmentary.
