Virgil spent the first 12 years of his life on a farm in west Independence Ohio until the death of his father, then him and his mother moved to fostoria, Ohio. Virgil continued his education obtaining a degree from Otterbein College in theology
He was pa pastor in the congregational chruch of Lodi, Ohio from 1927 till 1938, the frist cingregational church in Mariette, Ohio from 1938 till 1951 and the first congregational church in Springfield, Ill from 1951 till 1967
In 1980 Virgil and Thelma were living in Springfield, Ill.
