a. Note:   HENRY PITFOLD ( - ) was the eighth son of Robert Pitfold. Although no christenings of any of his children have been traced, it is known that he was the father of Nicholas, Maximillian and Henry Pitfold, all of Allington. Henry senior married Joan Herne at Netherbury in 1596, although it seems he must have been married previously, as his son Nicholas was born circa 1589.
