John C. Murphy, 85, of 9328 Robert Road, Washington Mills, N.Y. died September 27, 1977 in Faxton Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Little Falls, N.Y. the son of James and Jennie Kelhi Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was educated in Herkimer Schools, and on November 24, 1934 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, he married Helen K. Murphy. He had lived in the Utica area for the past 40 years and was a stationary engineer at the Skenandoa Rayon Company, retiring in 1960. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the Navy.
Mr. Murphy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Whitesboro Barracks.
He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 8:45 from the Quinn, Ryan & Nunn Funeral Home, and at 9:30 from St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetary, Herkimer.
