Note: REFN54 Cecil was assigned to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 87 Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division. The following is the Citation he recieved. HEADQUARTERS 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION APO #345 U. S. Army 16 July 1945 C I T A T I O N CECIL D. LARGENT, 19204702, Private First Class, Infantry, 87th Mountain Infantry, United States Army. For heroic achievement in action on 14 April 1945, near Mt. Pigna, Italy. Assigned to a mountain infantry company, whose mission was to attack a heavily fortified hill, Private First Class LARGENT displayed great courage and fortitude by performing his duties in a highly commendable manner. Advancing toward the objective, they were suddenly caught in a hail of enemy artillery fire and machine gun fire from the right flank. Private First Class LARGENT, with two comrades, exposed themselves by moving into a position where effective fire could be brought on the enemy emplacement and to successfully eliminate two machine gun positions and take eighteen enemy as prisoners. He continued to perform this outstanding service until hit by enemy fire and mortally wounded. Such outstanding service, grim determination and staunch devotion to duty are truly commendable and merit that Private First Class LARGENT be given the highest praise and sincere respect of all. POTASH 1st Lt., AGD Asst. Adj. Gen. Cecil is buried in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Mother was layed to rest next to him. Reference the wording "Reburial of Cecil". He was initially interned in a (Name Unknown) Mermorial Cemetary in Italy.
