Notes
a. Note:   1850 IN Census, Jefferson Co. Madison -- Benjamin, age 23, w/ Elizabeth, Mary E. age 1, William age 7 (?) and Enah Bain, age 25. Benjamin Tilley was wounded in the right hand by a Minie ball on
September 19, 1863, during the battle at Chicamaugua, TN, and was
discharged from the Army on Dec. 12, 1864 at Chattanooga, TN. By tracking
his requests for increase in pension and the census records, we can
 locate him:
20 Sept. 1850 (Census) Madison, Jefferson Co. IN
 May 1866 Spencer Co. IN
 23 March 1868 Evansville, IN
29 June 1870 (Census) Bowling Green, Pike Co., MO
12 Nov 1873 Louisiana Post Office, Pike Co. MO
 Nov 1874 Pike Co. MO
21 June 1880 (Census) McDonald Twp. Barry Co. MO
26 July 1882 Cassville, Barry Co. MO
6 Jan 1883 Barry Co. MO
The folder in the National Archives had a note that a letter had been
sent to his daughter, Sarah McIntosh, on Sept. 13, 1888. This was the
last entry in the folder, so it is possible Benjamin died in 1888.
