a. Note:   She moved with her family from Hico, Texas to Tillman County in 1904. She graduated from Laing School in 1918 and then attended the Normal School for Women in Edmond, Okla. where she received her teaching degree. She taught school at Hilltop, Laing, Union and other schools in Tillman County for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 292, Tipton, Okla, which she joined on August 15, 1924. She received her 60-year pin in 1990. She had served as the Worthy Matron and many other stations. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton where she played the piano for many years.
