Note: thagen in Norway (11/25/2002) informs me that Grandpa Gilbert's father was from the farm Nes in Gran, just north of Oslo. The family lived on the farm but likely didn't own it. There were seven children: Anders Guldbrandson who wrote from Sweden, Peder Gulbrandson who was a shoemaker in Paris, Berthe Gulbrandsdatter who married Lars Andersen Gamkinnseie and had a daughter Karen Marie Larsdatter who wrote to GG Gilbert from both Sweden and Norway. Sisters Ingeborg and Marthe who also lived in Sweden for a time I think. This information is from letters written in 1884.
