Note: BIO:"Sis", as she was known to friends and family, was the beloved mother of seven children. She was born and raised in Danbury and attended local schools, graduating from Danbury High in 1942. During high school she was known as "Deke". Her father, "Gus" Deakin was Town Clerk of Danbury for many years. Sis was an avid golfer and regular bowler in the winter months. She was a long time volunteer for the American Heart Association and the Boy Scouts. She regularly took on painting and decorating projects at her home on Deer Hill, painting and papering the whole house several times. She was an avid reader and was known to read several books a week, usually one of the Harlequin Romance series. She retired to Atlantis, Florida in 1976. Still not happy with her own coffee, she travelled to Dunkin Donuts every morning for coffee and a donut to go. She died of cancer in 1986 while her daughters, Marnie and Ann were visiting Atlantis. We miss you Mom.
