CAPT. JOHN HARELL 64 YEARS OLD
Capt. John P. Harrell, the popular county treasaurer, was a surprised man Friday. He was 64 years old, but had not thought much of that important event of over three scores of years ago until he reached his home on South Madison Street at noon, when he was confronted by about 25 neighbors and old friends who had gathered by special invitation of Mrs. Harrell to do honor to the occasion. A bounteous dinner was the feature of the day, and the afternoon was delightfully spent in a general reunion. Capt. Harrell was born and raised in Monroe County, was a soldier who won gallantry on the field and is one of the substantial citizens of the community, one evidence of which is the office of county treasurer with which he has been honored. Those present were: Messrs. and Mesdames L. O. Sutphin, J. T. Clark, Ira Dillman, William Fess, H. C. May, Aaron Gordon, Irvin Grimes, Lewis E. Harrell, Samuel Harrell, Win Sutphin and John Sutphin.
