Note: The obituary for Uncle Melvin follows: Melvin Rankin Funeral Services for Melvin Rankin, 76, Route 3, Wills Point, were held at 3 p.m. March 18 in the First Baptist church in Wills Point with Rev.s Donald Tisdale and Bob Beck officiating. Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery near Wills Point under the direction of Lybrand Funeral Home. Mr. Rankin died march 16, in his home after a short illness. He was born in Mississippi, September 29, 1907, and moved to Wills Point as a young child and lived in the area for the remainder of his life. He was a rancher and a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point. Survivors include his wife, Lila Rankin, Wills Point; two sons Rex Rankin, Midlothian, and Randy Rankin, Wills Point; two daughters, Dawn Landrum, Dallas; and Carolyn Hittle, Gallatin, Tennessee; one brother, Charlie Rankin, Austin; two sisters, Etta Gates, Edgewood; and Lillian Langston, Wills Point; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Langston, Johnny Beck, Gordon Mott, Harvey Mayfield, Bobby Mayfield and Wade Howell.
